DEWVA Committee Member PC Ashley Clark organised an East Midlands regional CPD Event which was attended by over 70 Drug Experts from within and outside the region.Guest Speakers Included:

Bhav Pattani Bhav Pattaniis the NHS England (Midlands) Director of Patient Safety and System Improvement, Controlled Drugs Accountable Officer for Leicestershire, Lincolnshire and Northamptonshire.





Rich Jones - The Lost Soldier



Rich grew up in Bristol on a council estate, the irony is he grew up in a Police House as his father was in the local force. In 1988 at the age of 18 Rich joined the British army, after successfully completing basic and trade training he was posted out to Germany. He then left the army in 1995 and as a part of his exit strategy he was trained by special forces to become a close protection officer Bodyguard) and surveillance operative. Rich's transition out of the army was going wrong and he gradually moved away from the security industry and begin to apply the same skills set and training to his new life, distributing wholesale amounts of controlled drugs, in particular cocaine. After getting caught and spending some time in prison he is now reformed as an author, guest speaker & mental health practitioner. Some of you may have heard of his book 'Charlie four Kilo' in which he discusses utilising his special military training to work in the criminal underworld.

The Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission provides mission critical intelligence to

combat the threats Australia faces from transnational serious and organised crime. We have an integrated view of crime, made possible through our connected systems and unique capabilities that we use to coordinate decision making with state and territory,

Commonwealth and international partners to confront the threats we face. Our purpose is to protect Australia from serious crime threats by collecting, assessing and

disseminating intelligence and policing information. The agency is part of the Attorney-General's portfolio and a member of the Five Eyes Law Enforcement Group. We are also part of the National Intelligence Community, which comprises 10 Australian organisations that collect, analyse and disseminate intelligence information and advice in accordance with Australia's interests and national security priorities.

MATTHEW NORFORD


Founder & C.E.O. of 1 Message Matthew grew up in Rusholme, Manchester; a deprived inner city area that experienced high levels of gun and gang related crime. He grew up the second eldest of four brothers and following the lead of his elder brother, Matthew became involved in criminal activity from a young age. Despite being offered an opportunity to become a professional basketball player, Matthew maintained his criminal path, leading a gang and serving a. number of jail sentences for drug related crimes. During his last sentence in 2011, Matthew discovered that his eldest brother had been killed in a gang related incident,

this was the turning point in his life.
